Round 23 of 2024/25 SMS Grup Efeler Ligi began on Friday with a dramatic showdown in which Altekma celebrated a hard-fought 3-2 (22:25, 25:22, 33:31, 23:25, 16:14) win over super favorite Halkbank at home.
The thrilling game, played at Atatürk Volleyball Hall, lasted 2 hours and 30 minutes and, despite Halkbank’s strong start, Altekma fought back and clinched a marathon third set (33-31), setting the stage for a decisive tie break. With home-court advantage and a resilient performance, Altekma sealed the victory, handing Halkbank a tough loss on the road, waiting for the Champions League rematch in Milano on Tuesday (in first leg they won in four sets).
Waiting for the last game between last-placed Akkuş Belediyesi and Arkas Spor, rescheduled to Tuesday, March 11, 2025, due to weather conditions, the other four games were played today.
Leaders Ziraat Bankkart, now at +12 from second-placed Halkbank, prevailed with the score of 1-3 (24:26, 27:25, 23:25, 20:25) on the field of Spor Toto, the same of Bursa Büyükşehir Belediyespor, on the field of Türşad, 1-3 (25:21, 22:25, 19:25, 21:25).
Three points and away win also for Fenerbahçe Medicana, who won in straight sets on the field of newcomers and Turkish Cup semifinalist Istanbul Gençlik Spor, 0-3 (21:25, 22:25, 17:25), while On Hotels Alanya Belediyespor beat Cizre Bld. with the same result, 3-0 (25:17, 25:17, 25:23).
