Austria: Graz won last Game 1 of Quarterfinals in Ried!

After three games played yesterday in which field advantage has been respected, in last Game 1 of 2024/25 Powerfusion VL playoffs, UVC Holding Graz won their opening match of quarterfinals in Ried’s Raiffeisen Volleydome thanks to a strong blocking and defensive performance in front of 500 volleyball fans!
The hosts suffered a home defeat after just three sets and 88 minutes of play, partially 17:25, 23:25 and 21:25. In both the first and second half of the season, Ried prevailed at tie-break.
After easily winning the first set, the Styrians had to fight harder in the second one before narrowly close it 23-25. Ried also kept the control in the first part of third set and, with the scoreboard on 15-18, they even came back until 20-21 and 21-22, but they were unable to equalize and the visiting side close the game after first match point with a winning block to take the lee in best of 5 series.
MVP Benedikt Sablatnig scored 20 points for the winners, while no player in Ried’s jersey reached a double digit with Borys Zhukov and Joachim Hesselholt who left the court with 8 points each.
In second game of Relegation Round, VBC TLC Weiz celebrated a hard-fought home win over UNIONvolleys Bisamberg-Hollabrunn, 3-2 (25:13, 22:25, 29:31, 25:22, 18:16).
