Italy: Round 21 is over without major upsets – Grottazzolina remain in Superlega, Cisterna to playoffs!

After two advances played yesterday, won by Itas Trentino and Allianz Milano in four sets, Round 21 of 2024/25 Superlega CredemBanca or, if you prefer, Round 10 of second leg, has been completed today without major upsets, but with first seasonal verdicts at -1 game from the end of regular season.
The day started with the 3-1 (25:15, 19:25, 25:21, 25:23) home win of Valsa Group Modena over Gioiella Prisma Taranto, with 19 points from Paul Buchegger and 10 from Vlad Davyskiba. With this result, Modena confirm themselves at 7th place, at +3 from Cisterna, yesterday defeated by Milano at home, while Taranto continue to fight to stay in Superlega in their last game at home against Rana Verona.
To the top, at +3 from their closest pursuers Trento, Sir Susa Vim Perugia, who secured a 3-1 (28:26, 23:25, 25:17, 25:16) victory at home against currently last-placed Mint Vero Volley Monza, at -1 from Taranto, in their penultimate round of regular season. Monza put up a strong fight, pushing the first set to 28-26 before taking the second 25-23. However, Perugia responded with dominant performances in the next two sets (25-17, 25-16).

Oleh Plotnytskyi, four from Ishikawa, and three from Ben Tara. Perugia also recorded 13 blocks, keeping a solid defensive presence. Yuki Ishikawa led the charge with 20 points to his name, earning MVP honors with a 56% attack efficiency, four aces, and two blocks.
While the three points bolster Perugia’s position, the focus remains on refining their gameplay ahead of the playoffs.
Their final regular-season match will be an away fixture against Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza, who today won with a clear 0-3 (17:25, 21:25, 19:25) on the field of Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina who, despite a defeat, will remain in Superlega also next season!
They’ll fight for 9th place together with Sonepar Padova who, after winning first set, succumbed to the hosts Rana Verona with the score of 3-1 (20:25, 25:23, 25:19, 25:15).
