Austria: Hypo Tirol, Aich/Dob and Graz to semifinals!

Predictions respected in Game 3 of Powerfusion VL Men quarterfinals best-of-three series, with absolute leaders, defending champions and champions of everything on a national level HYPO TIROL volleyball team was the first team to advance to semifinals!
Titleholders gave to eight-placed in regular season TJ Sokol V/Post SV Wien no chance, winning 3-0 (25:16, 25:14, 25:19) in their USI hall, with head coach Lorenzo Tubertini who made a turnover, giving Danail Dimov the chance to play the game from the start. Top scorers of the match were Niklas Kronthaler with 16 points, followed by Nicolai Grabmüller and Arthur Nath who added 9 and 8 points, respectively, while no player of the team from country’s capital reached a double digit, with Tobias Ofner as top scorer with 8 points.
Innsbruck’s semi-final opponent is UVC Holding Graz, fifth in regular season, who won 3-1 (25:20, 23:25, 25:22, 25:20) on the field of No.4 UVC McDonald’s Ried, led by Benedikt Sablatnig, top scorer with 20 points, well supported by Arwin Kopschar and Johannes Kratz, also in double digit with 14 and 11 points, respectively. Markus Berger scored 14 points for the hosts.
SK Zadruga Aich/Dob also stormed into the semifinals, beating Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel in Bleiburg with a clear 3-0 (25:17, 25:17, 25:17).
After two hard-fought games, they gave the rivals no chance this time.

We finally showed what is possible. This was a really strong performance, the attitude was top, we were better than the opponent. By reaching the semi-finals we have achieved our minimum goal. Now we are preparing for the MEVZA League Final4 on Wednesday and Thursday. The first opponent is host HAOK Mladost Zagreb,” said Aich/Dob sports director Martin Micheu.

Top scorers in the JUFA Arena were Bryan Camino Martinez with 17 points, Noel Krassnig who added 13 and Vitor Yamamoto with 9, while no player on the other side of the net reached a double digit, with Illia Dovhyi who tallied 8 and Niklas Stooß 7.

On Sunday, startint from 6.30 p.m. local time, TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg can close their series against VCA Amstetten NÖ, while the best-of-five semifinal series will start in three weeks.

About relegation round, the top division teams scored three points, with current leaders Sportunion z+p St. Pölten who beat VBC TLC Weiz 3-1 (21:25, 25:17, 25:15, 25:21), and VBK Kelag Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt defeated hotVolleys Wien also in four sets (25:22, 24:26, 26:24, 25:14) to improve their 3rd place. On Sunday, UNIONvolleys Bisamberg-Hollabrunn (4th) will visit Klagenfurt.
