France: Round 23 continues - Chaumont back to the top! Toulouse, Nice and Tours ok

After the advance played yesterday, in which Montpellier down Tourcoing in big match for first/second place, Round 23 of 2024/25 Marmara Spike League continuer today with other four games.
Chaumont struggled more than expected, winning in Paris at tie break after a 2-0 deficit, but it was enough to regain the top of the standings, with the same number of points of Montpellier, 45. 2-3 (25:18, 25:21, 20:25, 17:25, 11:15) is the final result, and Mathis Henno was the man of the match with 29 points to his name through 65% in attack, 3 winning blocks and 4 of his team’s 9 aces. Nik Mujanovic scored 19 points for the team from country’s capital, who was unable to close a game in which, after dominating first two sets, suffered the rivals’ play even starting fourth sets with a clear 0-8, and 0-5 in decisive fifth one!
Behind them with 41 points Tourcoing and Tours who, after losing first set, prevailed with the score of 1-3 (25:17, 21:25, 15:25, 18:25) on the field of Sète, with 16 points from Antoine Pothron, closely followed by Gonzalo Quiroga and Ryan Sclater, who added 15 and 13, respectively. Tristan Schlienger was the most prolific player for the home team, but he wasn’t enough as, after first set and the very beginning of second one, Tours literally dominated the game.
Three points also for Nice and Toulouse, who won their respective home games in straight sets and without major problems.
The first one down last-placed Plessis Robinson 3-0 (25:19, 25:21, 25:18), who remain to the bottom of the standings at -2 from second-to-last Saint Nazaire, keeping their hopes to stay in Ligue A alive.

The only player in double digit for the winners is bomber Simon Hirsch, who left the court with 20 points to his name through 62% in attack, 4 of his team’s 12 winning blocks, 3 aces and MVP honors.
All easy also for Toulouse, who sweep Narbonne 3-0 (25:20, 25:17, 25:15) with a good team performance in attack (60% to 40%), overpowering the rivals also in blocking (7 to 3) and serving (4 to 0).
Nathan Feral led the charge with 17 points including 3 aces, 3 winning blocks and an excellent 69% in attack with only one error and blocked once.
Round 23 will close on Monday with last game between Saint Nazaire and Cannes.
