Coupe de France: final is Tourcoing – Montpellier!

With two semifinals played this evening, now we know that the Gran Finale of 2024/25 Coupe De France, scheduled on Saturday, March 29, is Tourcoing – Montpellier!
The first one struggled more than expected against a very combative Toulouse, able to close the game only after a hard-fought 3-2 (25:19, 20:25, 25:20, 25:27, 15:12) after 2 hours and 19 minutes of play.
To make the difference, in addition to 26 points from Pablo Koukartsev (52% in attack, 3 blocks and 1 ace), was an impressive performance in blocking, scoring as many as 21 points from this element (8 only from MVP Michael Parkinson, who added also 7 points in attack through 64%) compared to the rivals’ only 4! Nathan Feral scored 28 points for Toulouse through 52% in attack and 5 of his team’s 6 aces, but he wasn’t enough against a team that showed great resilience.
The other finalist in Montpellier who, in big match between current Ligue A leaders, trampled over an unrecognizable Chaumont in just three sets (25:15, 25:19, 25:18) after 1 hour and 24 minutes of play.
MVP Tomas Lopez Pascual led the charge with 13 points to his name
through 69% in attack, 1 ace and 1 block. Double digit also for Dimitar Dimitrov and Ezequiel Palacios, who added 12 and 11 points respectively.
No player in Chaumont’s jersey reached a double digit.

Montpellier, eight-time French champions, will now seek their first-ever Coupe de France title, having fallen short in 2008, 2010, and 2023, while Tourcoing, who won their first and only Coupe de France in 2018 after six previous final defeats, now has a chance to lift the trophy again!
And Final Showdown is scheduled on March 29 in Chartres!
Montpellier won their recent Ligue A clash 3-1, but will history repeat itself, or will Tourcoing claim their second cup victory?
