Italy: Cucine Lube Civitanova and Itas Trentino advance to semifinals with commanding victories over Milano and Cisterna

After Gas Sales BluEnergy Piacenza,
who eliminated Rana Verona, and Sir Susa Vim Perugia, who prevail in quarterfinals series vs. Valsa Group Modena, also Cucine Lube Civitanova and Itas Trentino march into 2024/25 SuperLega CredemBanca Semifinals, each clinching impressive 3-1 victories in front of passionate volleyball fans.
Backed by a wave of colorful traveling supporters, Cucine Lube Civitanova defeated Allianz Milano with the score of 1-3 (17:25, 25:17, 20:25, 22;25) at the Allianz Cloud, marking their 20th Scudetto Semifinal appearance and also securing them a spot in the 2025/26 European Cups.
Adis Lagumdzija and Mattia Bottolo led the charge with 18 and 15 points respectively, well supported by Aleksandar Nikolov, who added 14 points, while Tatsunori Otsuka was the most prolific player for the hosts, tallying 16 points.
Despite 11 team aces, 5 only by setter Paolo Porro, Milano couldn’t hold off the rivals’ consistency in key moments of the game.
Lube now faces Sir Susa Vim Perugia in a best-of-five Semifinal series starting April 5–6 at the PalaBarton Energy arena.
Meanwhile, Itas Trentino powered past Cisterna Volley in a tight 1-3 battle (25:17, 20:25, 14:25, 25:27), closing the series also 3-1.
MVP Alessandro Michieletto scored 16 points for the winners, just like his teammate Kamil Rychlicki, while Daniele Lavia added 13.
Cisterna fought valiantly behind Theo Faure, top scorer of the game with 20 points points to his name
and Jordi Ramon’s 12 points.
In front of 2600+ fans, Cisterna took the first set and pushed Trentino to their limit in the fourth one, but Rychlicki’s serve power and Michieletto’s consistency proved to be decisive decisive. Despite the loss, Cisterna advances to the Playoff 5th Place bracket in pursuit of a Challenge Cup spot together with Milano, while Trentino prepares to face Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza in their semifinal series.
