Poland: Jastrzębski to semifinals! Lublin destroy ZAKSA to re-open their best-of-three quarterfinal series

Games 2 of 2024/25 Plusliga were played today with defending champions and regular season winners Jastrzębski Węgiel who secure first semifinal ticket after a thrilling comeback against No.8 Steam Hemarpol Norwid Częstochowa, 2-3 (25:19, 25:23, 18:25, 20:25, 12:15).
Down 0-2 away, they sealed the quarterfinal series 2-0, led by
Łukasz Kaczmarek, who left the court with 22 points to his name, with a strong support from Tomasz Fornal and Norbert Huber, who also contributed with 17 and 14 points, respectively. On the other side, Patrik Indra shined with 25 points, but he wasn’t enough.
The winners’ experience showed in the decisive moments of the match, earning them a well-deserved spot in the medal zone, led by MVP Benjamin Toniutti.
Meanwhile, Bogdanka LUK Lublin stunned ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle on their home court, sweeping them 0-3 (15:25, 21:25, 20:25) in the second quarterfinal clash. This great victory ties the series 1-1 and sets the stage for a decisive Game 3 this Sunday.
ZAKSA, missing their star opposite Bartosz Kurek, struggled to find rhythm against a determined Lublin, who played confidently and aggressively from the first serve, overturning the story after losing the opening game 1-3 in Lublin.
Wilfredo Leon with 21 points to his name was unstoppable from the service line and attack, while Mateusz Rećko scored 18 points for the hosts.
