2 min read

Games 2 of 2024/25 Marmara Spike League Quarterfinals were played today, with regular season leaders Montpellier able to tie the score with No.8 Cannes, who surprisingly won Game 1 in just three sets, winning the match with the same result, 3-0 (25:23, 25:22, 25:22).
The hosts were also able to reject the attempt of their rivals to reopen the game, recovering from 19-21 in decisive third set, led in score by Dimitar Dimitrov, top scorer of the game with 19 points to his name through 53% in attack and 2 aces.
The others are all 2-0 in their respective series.
After struggling more than expected in Game 1, No.2 Chaumont down No.7 in regular season Toulouse by 3-1 (25:22, 20:25, 25:18, 25:21) in front of their home fans, with 18 points including 4 winning blocks and 54% in attack from Niko Suihkonen, while third-placed Tourcoing down Poitiers with the same result, 3-1 (25:16, 20:25, 31:29, 28:26), after a hard-fought battle.
Meanwhile, No.4 Tours sweep No.5 Nice again. After losing first set, they literally destroyed their rivals, closing the match with the score of 3-1 (23:25, 25:12, 25:17, 25:19), in front of almost 2500 home fans. Ryan Sclater and Alexandre Strehlau led the charge with 16 and 14 points, respectively, well supported by Antoine Pothron, also in double digit with 12. Nice, who struggled in attack with only 32% of team efficiency, suffered the bad day of bomber Simon Hirsch, who tallied only 3 points through 19% in attack, while Alexandros Raptis was the only player in double digit with 13 points but with only 38% in attack.
