History in the making! Perugia and Zawiercie batte today for their first Champions League title in Łódź!

The stage is set at Łódź’s Atlas Arena for a thrilling Gran Finale, as Italy’s Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia will face Poland’s Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie in the last act of 2024/25 CEV Champions League.
And no matter the outcome, as history will be written, with both clubs chasing their maiden title in the competition!

Aluron, making the difference in only their second European season, arrived unbeaten, boasting as well as a nine-match winning streak.
They can also become the first club since the 2018/19 season to finish the season unbeaten and secure the title, after Cucine Lube Civitanova who, in that season, won with 11 wins in 11 matches!
Adding to the excitement, coach Michal Winiarski could become the first Polish coach to lift the coveted trophy.
His squad staged a dramatic comeback in the semifinal, beating their compatriots JSW Jastrzębski Węgiel at tie break, after being 2-0 down.

Interestingly enough, the last club to reach the final in their maiden appearance in the Final Four of the European elite competition, was Perugia!
When the Italian side first made their appearance in the final, surrendered to Zenit Kazan, 0-3, in the 2016/17 season.
Perugia, boasting a deep roster filled with several star players, remains a formidable powerhouse in volleyball scenario.
Led by veteran Angelo Lorenzetti, now in his fifth final after the ones in 2002/03, 2007/08, 2021/22 and 2022/23, becoming only the third coach to do so in the history of the competition, is still chasing his first Champions League title—setting the stage for a clash driven by high stakes and unrelenting ambition.
And Lorenzetti himself has never won the title, therefore this could be his maiden trophy, in a star-studded career!
Moreover Perugia, which lost a final in 2017, can become the fourth Italian side to win the title and have won six of the nine matches played against Polish rivals in their history in the European premium competition.
