ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle lose major sponsor but fight for a spot in 2025/26 Champions League

2 min read

Right in the midst of first national team competitions of 2025 summer volleyball season, including most-quoted Volleyball Nations League, a bad news came from one of Europe’s volleyball giants, polish powerhouse ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle, one of the most awarded clubs in the continent’s volleyball history, now facing significant financial uncertainty.

ZAKSA confirmed that Grupa Azoty Kędzierzyn, their historical main sponsor, will no longer support the club financially.
“We Are Not Able”, and the announcement came via regional news media, sending ripples through the Polish (and European) volleyball community. Despite reaffirming their emotional and historical ties to the club, the financial blow is undeniably serious, especially for a team aiming to return to the CEV Champions League.

Luckily for volleyball fans, despite losing its title sponsor, the club isn’t backing down, declining its Challenge Cup spot for the 2025/2026 season and instead applied for a Wild Card to re-enter the elite Champions League.
This strategic move underlines ZAKSA’s resolve to maintain its status despite the financial hurdles, and their history could work in their favor in the CEV’s decision-making process.
In fact, ZAKSA’s trophy cabinet is overflowing with achievements as they’re hree-time Champions League winners, in 2021, 2022 and 2023, eight-time Polish champions in the 21st century alone, together with nine Polish Cups & three Super Cups.
