Huge Blow for Italy: Daniele Lavia suffers a serious hand injury ahead of 2025 World Championship in The Philippines

Italy National Team’s outside hitter Daniele Lavia suffered a serious injury to his right hand during training in Verona.
According to the Italian Volleyball Federation, he sustained a crush trauma to his fourth and fifth fingers following an accidental fall.
Immediate medical attention was provided by the national team’s staff, and detailed examinations revealed complex fractures with tissue damage.
Thus he underwent urgent surgery at Borgo Trento Hospital, facing now several weeks of recovery.
This unfortunate injury means he will miss the upcoming World Championship in the Philippines, a huge blow to Italy’s campaign, while his absence also raises concerns for his club Itas Trentino just weeks before the start of 2025/26 Superlega.
