The 2025 Volleyball World Championship in the Philippines has delivered yet another stunning twist as Brazil, one of the world of volleyball greatest powerhouses, has been eliminated at the group stage!
Thus Brazil’s result is worst campaign in history, worse than the 13th place in 1966. In the past, they hadn’t been out of a World Championship semifinal since 1994, and It was seven editions in a row among the top four!
Placed in Pool H in Pasay City, Brazil fell victim to an unexpected scenario thanks to the final Pool clash between Czech Republic and China.
A straight-set Czech victory would seal Brazil’s fate, and that’s exactly what happened, as they triumphed 3–0 (26:24, 25:19, 25:18), edging out the South Americana in the standings by just one set won more!
This twist comes only hours after another volleyball giant, France, also eliminated from the competition following a 2–3 loss to Argentina in Pool C.
Both results mark one of the most unexpected twists in recent championship history.
Serbia and the Czech Republic so advanced from Pool H, while Brazil and China were sent home.
A super Patrik Indra led the charge with 29 points, while Bin Wang was the most prolofic player for China with 12 points.

Close the picture on Pool Stage Italy who, in Pool F in Quezon City, booked their spot in the Round of 16 after a commanding 3-0 win over Ukraine (25:21, 25:22, 25:18), showing composure and control throughout the game, securing a clash with Argentina in the knockout stage on Sunday, September 21.
After a tight opening in first set, Italy pulled away with sharp attacking from Yuri Romanò and Mattia Bottolo, while Gianluca Galassi and Roberto Russo provided stability at the net from the middle.
The second set mirrored the first, with Ukraine staying close until key moments, when a late surge capped by Alessandro Michieletto’s attack and block sealed the set 25-22. Italy’s efficiency in attack (58%) and solid blocking proved to be decisive.
The final set was one-sided, with Italy who kept the control before closing 25-18.
Alessandro Michieletto led the charge with 13 points, closely followed by Mattia Bottolo and Yuri Romanò who added 11 each.
13 points also from Ukraine’s Yurii Semeniuk and 12 from Illia Kovalov, but they were not enough.
