Italy: SuperLega 2025/26 started today with spectacles! Tie break win for Milano and Padova, 3 points for Verona and Civitanova

SuperLega Credem Banca is back, and the new Regular Season kicks off today, with Round 1 concluding tomorrow with the match between Cisterna and defending champions Itas Trentino, while Vero Volley Monza will welcome Sir Susa Scai Perugia.
Different dates and times, different venues, and the usual love of volleyball.
The tournament started at 8:00 pm with the match between Allianz Milano and Valsa Group Modena at the Allianz Cloud, which, interestingly, was also the closing match of last season, while three matches were played at 8:30 pm.
Rana Verona welcomed Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza, rivalry on the pitch and in the stands at the Eurosuole Forum for the Marche derby between Cucine Lube Civitanova and Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina, and the charm of the debut in Superlega at the Kioene Arena between Sonepar Padova and the newcomers MA Acqua S.Bernardo Cuneo, ended 3-2 (26:24, 21:25, 25:22, 20:25, 15:13) in favor of the home team with a great performance from Veljko Masulovic, author of 22 points.

And so, 2025/26 SuperLega CredemBanca SuperLega season kicked off already with pure excitement, and plenty of drama across Italy.
At Milan’s Allianz Cloud, Milano thrilled their home fans with a stunning 3–2 comeback win over Valsa Group Modena (23:25, 17:25, 25:22, 37:35, 15:11) and, after falling behind two sets, the home team turned the match around thanks to Ferre Reggers’ 28-point masterclass and a relentless team spirit, above all in fourth set, a 47-minute battle ending 37–35!
On the other side of the net Modena, led by Vlad Davyskiba, who left the court with 26 points to his name and Paul Buchegger, who added 17, dominated early but couldn’t maintain control as Milano’s resilience has been awarded, despite the absence of starting setter Fernando Kreling “Cachopa”, injured, replaced by young Leonardo Barbanti, who earned MVP honors.

In Verona, the hosts Rana Verona opened their season in style with a 3–1 win over Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza (25:22, 16:25, 29:27, 25:20). MVP Noumory Keita made the difference with 24 points, while setter Christenson delivered a key serving run who helped to close the match. Despite strong efforts from Alessandro Bovolenta, who left the court with 19 points to his name, and Robertlandy Simon, who added 16, Piacenza couldn’t keep up with Verona’s rhythm and an energic home crowd.
3 points also for Cucine Lube Civitanova, who began their campaign with a solid 3–1 victory against Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina (25:15, 25:16, 23:25, 25:23), led by Superstar Aleksandar Nikolov, who led the charge with as many as 30 points in four sets, dominating from the net as well as from the service line. Grottazzolina, playing without Dusan Petkovic, fought back bravely to take the third set but fell short in the fourth.

Round 1 will close tomorrow with last two scheduled games, both starting at 8.30 pm, local time: Cisterna Volley will welcome defending champions Itas Trentino, while Vero Volley Monza will face Sir Susa Scai Perugia.
