Poland: Round 1 of 2025/26 season continues with confident wins for PGE Projekt Warszawa and Asseco Resovia Rzeszów

After the advance played yesterday, as well as the game that opended 2025/26 Plusliga, in which Energa Trefl Gdańsk needed five sets to prevail over Barkom Każany Lwów, Round 1 of 2025/26 Plusliga continued today with other two games, both ending with victories for the favorites — PGE Projekt Warszawa and Asseco Resovia Rzeszów.
In Warsaw, the team from country’s capital defeated newcomers InPost ChKS Chełm in straight sets 3-0 (25:23, 25:22, 25:23), with Bartosz Bednorz who led the charge with 15 points to his name, well supported by Kévin Tillie, who added 13, and Yuriy Semeniuk with 11 points. For the visitors, Paweł Rusin and Remigiusz Kapica stood out with determined performances despite the loss, scoring 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Earlier today in Suwałki, the hosts Ślepsk Malow Suwałki nearly surprised Asseco Resovia Rzeszów, taking the first set 25:17. However, the favorites quickly found their rhythm, winning the match with the score of 1-3 (25:17, 16:25, 17:25, 18:25).
The man of the match was Artur Szalpuk, who claimed the MVP award after scoring 22 points with an impressive 72% attack success rate, well supported by Karol Butryn who added 16 and Danny Demyanenko with 12 points, also contributing heavily.
For the home team, Bartosz Filipiak and Asparuh Asparuhov, with 15 and 14 points respectively, led the offense, while David Smith added 11 points, including seven from blocks, but they were not enough to stop Resovia’s determination.
First Round of 2025/26 season will continue tomorrow with other two games: Indykpol AZS Olsztyn will welcome JSW Jastrzębski Węgiel, while Steam Hemarpol Politechnika Częstochowa will face BOGDANKA LUK Lublin.
