Italy: Perugia, Civitanova, Modena and Monza dominate in Round 3. 2 points for Cisterna

Third Round of 2025/26 Superlega CredemBanca started today with first five scheduled games, delivering again high-level volleyball across Italy.
The midweek round started with Sir Susa Scai Perugia who delivered a flawless performance, trampled over Sonepar Padova 3-0 (25:15, 25:16, 25:21) without major problems. Outside hitter Oleh Plotnytskyi led the charge with 19 points to his name, well supported by middle blockers Agustin Loser and Sebastian Solé, wrapping up the match in just 77 minutes. Padova’s Davide Gardini fought hard with 17 points, but Perugia’s rhythm, defensive control and powerful attack were on another level.
In a thrilling clash between two italian volleyball giants, as well as a remake of last season’s final, Cucine Lube Civitanova defeated defending Champions Itas Trentino 3-1 (25:23, 25:23, 22:25, 25:22) in front of their home fans, with another powerful performance from Aleksandar Nikolov, who starred with as many as 29 points in just four sets! Alessandro Michieletto with 22 points and Theo Faure with 14 kept it close, but Civitanova’s composure in the decisive moments of the game sealed a well-deserved win.
Valsa Group Modena earned a crucial away victory on the field of Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza, winning with the score of 1-3 (23:25, 17:25, 25:23, 23:25). Paul Buchegger scored 15 points for the winners, just like Efe Mandiraci and Alessandro Bovolenta on the other side of the net.
In other exciting match of the round, Cisterna Volley needed five sets to prevail over Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina 3-2 (25:22, 22:25, 25:21, 22:25, 15:13) on their home soil, with opposite Tommaso Guzzo who starred with 25 points points to his name. Grottazzolina’s Amir Golzadeh with 21 points and Giulio Magalini, who added 17, led their team, but the hosts held their nerve in the decider.
Close the picture so far Vero Volley Monza who continued their strong start, defeating newcomers MA Acqua S.Bernardo Cuneo 3-1 (22:25, 25:20, 25:22, 27:25). Martin Atanasov led the charge with 20 points, backed by Krisztián Padar and Leandro Mosca, while Cuneo’s Nathan Feral with 19 points battled hard in an undeserved defeat.
Round 3 will close tomorrow with the clash between Rana Verona and Allianz Milano.
