The Iranian Volleyball Federation has announced that Saber Kazemi, one of Iran’s brightest volleyball stars, has tragically passed away, a devastating loss for Iran and the entire volleyball world.

Only 26 years old, he suffered severe brain damage in Qatar, where he plays professionally, after being electrocuted in a swimming pool following a training session.
According to the Medical Commission, his brain activity has been declared irreversible, and his condition is described as brain death. However, life support has not been stopped, and he remains connected to vital machines under intensive care, after sustaining severe brain damage.
Saber Kazemi was a key player of Iran’s success, helping the national team win the gold medal at the 2021 Asian Championship, where he was also named MVP.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, teammates, and all who love him during this heartbreaking time of unimaginable grief.
