Champions League: ACH Volley Ljubljana to Pool stage! Radnicki Kragujevac destroyed again in straight sets!
2 min read
After a clear straight sets win in Serbia in first leg, slovenian powerhouse ACH Volley Ljubljana repeated themselves also in their Sportna Dvorana Tivoli celebrating another 3-0 (25:17, 25:21, 25:20) success against Radnicki Kragujevac.
The Slovenian champions opened the match with a powerful 6–0 run, fueled by four early blocks from Tonček Štern and Alen Pajenk. The rivals struggled to find their rythm in an enthusiastic arena, and the home team cruised through the first set 25–17, moving within one set of qualification without major problems.
The Serbian side tried to react in second set, briefly taking a 19–18 lead, even if captain Tine Urnaut led Ljubljana, and decisiva was also an ace from Rok Marovt that pushed them to a 25–21 win, securing their Champions League berth before the third set even began.
With the pressure gone, coach Igor Kolaković introduced several bench players, while Alen Šket made the difference in a set that sealed the match 25–20.
Ljulbljana now will compete in Pool A together with Turkey’s Ziraat Bankkart Ankara, Italian powerhouse Trentino Itas and France’s Tours VB.
Yesterday also Guaguas Las Palmas earned their ticket to Pool Stage of European club’s elite competition after a double straight sets win over Levski Sofia, and will compete in Pool C.
