Poland: Gdańsk and Olsztyn down rivals in five-set battles, Warsaw sweep Gorzów in straight sets

The latest matches of 2025/26 PlusLiga Round 9 brought lot of excitement, with Energa Trefl Gdańsk and Indykpol AZS Olsztyn both winning dramatic five-set matches, while, in the game that opened volleyball Sunday, PGE Projekt Warszawa cruised to a clean 0-3 (26:28, 23:25, 19:25) victory in Gorzów. The winners showed their class with a solid win over Cuprum Stilon Gorzów, with Jakub Kochanowski who earned MVP honors, while top scorer Mathis Henno scored 17 points through 47% in attack and 2 aces.
In Gdańsk, Trefl Gdansk delivered a stunning performance to beat current league leaders Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie 3-2 (25:16, 25:27, 25:23, 17:25, 15:9). After a fierce contest, the hosts dominated the deciding set 15–9, with Aliaksei Nasevich who scored as many as 30 points through 62% efficiency as well as MVP award.
Olsztyn also excited their fans with a huge comeback against ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle. Losing the first two sets didn’t stop them, as they turned the game around to win 3-2 (20:25, 20:25, 25:21, 25:14, 15:13). Moritz Karlitzek and Jan Hadrava led the charge, while MVP Paweł Cieślik impressed with six blocks and 78% attack efficiency.
Round 9 will close tomorrow with the clash between JSW Jastrzębski Węgiel and Steam Hemarpol Politechnika Częstochowa.
