Poland: Jastrzębski close Round 9 with a tie break win over Częstochowa in coach Travica’s debut

In the closing game of ninth round of 2025/26 PlusLiga, JSW Jastrzębski Węgiel claimed a hard-fought 3-2 (20:25, 25:22, 26:24, 19:25, 15:12) win over Steam Hemarpol Politechnika Częstochowa, denying them a successful start under new head coach Ljubomir Travica.
Outside hitter Michał Gierżot was named MVP after a great performance in which he contributed 21 points in a win that marks the fifth win of the season for the team led by coach Andrzej Kowal.
The result lifts Jastrzębski Węgiel to eighth place in the current PlusLiga standings, while Steam Hemarpol Politechnika Częstochowa remain with a single win this season and continues their efforts to halt a five-match losing streak.
Plusliga will continue already tomorrow with other two games: in a delayed game of Round 4, Barkom Każany Lwów will welcome Cuprum Stilon Gorzów while, in Round 8, newcomers InPost ChKS Chełm will face Asseco Resovia Rzeszów.
