Champions League: winning debut (and straight sets win) for Bogdanka LUK Lublin and Cucine Lube Civitanova

Pool Stage of 2025/26 CEV Champions League started today!
Bogdanka LUK Lublin couldn’t have asked for a better start, sweeping Halkbank Ankara from Türkiye 3-0 (25:20, 25:14, 25:13) in front of a loud home crowd in their Pool B opener.
The Polish champions controlled the match from the first points and never looked back, with Kewin Sasak who led the charge with 19 points and MVP honors, while Wilfredo Leon added 18. Tsvetan Sokolov was the most prolific player for Halkbank with just eight points. The winners dominated at the net from the serve line, outblocking Halkbank 13–3 and also firing 12 aces.
In the evening, Cucine Lube Civitanova opened their Champions League campaign with a 3–0 win over Montpellier HSC VB, taking the Pool E match 25:16, 25:17, 25:22 without major problems.
Aleksandar Nikolov led all scorers with 17 points and was named MVP, while Eric Loeppky who added 11 and Mattia Bottolo with 10 also reached double digit for the winners. Montpellier, returning to the competition with a wild card, kept pace in a couple of moments of the game but could not break through Civitanova blocking and strong play. Ezequiel Palacios and Gabriel López Pascual finished with 13 and 12 points for the French team, respectively.
Pool E action continues tomorrow with PGE Projekt Warszawa which will host Volley Haasrode Leuven from Belgium in Poland.
