France: Toulouse sweep Saint Nazaire in advance of Round 18

Round 18 of 2025/26 MARMARA Spike League started today with the clash between St-Nazaire and Toulouse, ended in straight sets, 0-3 (21:25, 23:25, 16:25), in favor of the visiting side, who leveled the score with Nice (who will face Poitiers at home, on Saturday), at least temporarily, sharing with them sixth place in the standings both with 26 points.
Saint Nazaire, on the other hand, struggled in the whole game, with the only exception of the very beginning of second set, and remain second-to-last in the table with the same number of points of Chaumont, 15, who will face also at home second-placed Poitiers on Saturday, both at +1 from last-placed Ajaccio (who will face Tourcoing on this round).
An almost perfect Pierre Derouillon led the charge tonight with 21 points to his name in just three sets through 73% in attack with 1 ace and 1 block, while Kaleb Jenness was the most prolific player on the other side of the net, but he wasn’t enough in was was a one-sided game.
This defeat marks Saint’s Nazaire fourth consecutive league loss, and also their fourth at home, having tasted victory since January 3rd, and even since December 2nd at home.
The objective of avoiding relegation is now a clearly stated for Saint-Nazaire. and two crucial matches await them: Narbonne at home, followed by a perilous away game in Ajaccio.
On the other hand, Toulouse are confirming their resilience after a complicated start to the season with one win and seven losses.
Round 18 will complete tomorrow with the clash between Sète and Paris.
