Poland: Olsztyn’s comeback and Lublin win over a decimated Warzawa closed fragmented Round 12 (and first leg)

Fragmented Round 12 of 2025/26 Plusliga, started on November 4 and continued last week, has been completed today with last two games that marked also the end of first leg of the competition.
After easily won first two sets, newcomers InPost ChKS Chełm suffered the comeback of Indykpol AZS Olsztyn, and the visiting side managed to win the game at tie break, 2-3 (25:19, 25:15, 26:28, 20:25, 8:15).
Moritz Karlitzek led the charge for the winners leaving the court with 21 points to his name through 51% in attack and 3 aces in a team that blocked the rivals, scoring 13 points from this element compared to the hosts’ 4.
In the evening, PGE Projekt Warszawa missed seven players in big match on the field of Bogdanka LUK Lublin after a wave of illness hit the team, due to sudden infections accompanied by fever. Some players were unable to travel, while others began showing symptoms during the trip to Lublin.
Warsaw officials also asked for the match to be postponed, but the request was denied because of the league’s tight schedule. Forfeiting the game was also ruled out, with the club stressing its commitment to fair competition.
Head coach Tommii Tiilikainen played with a reduced squad, including setters Jan Firlej and Michał Kozłowski, outside hitters Kevin Tillie and Brandon Koppers, and liberos Damian Wojtaszek and Maciej Olenderek, while middle blocker Jurij Semeniuk returns after recovering from illness.
Despite the emergency and the result, 3-0 (27:25, 25:22, 25:23), the team from country’s capital fought a lot, with 18 points from Brandon Koppers and 10 from Damian Wojtaszek, while MVP Mateusz Malinowski led the winners with 15 points through 52% in attack and 2 aces.
