Straight sets win for Resovia and Zawiercie. 3 points also for Trento as 2025/26 Champions League actions resume!

2025/26 CEV Champions League returned after the holiday short pause with a lot of action, and with a convincing performance from Asseco Resovia Rzeszów that start the night. In Pool D, the Polish side claimed a clear 3-0 (25:14, 25:15, 25:19) win over SVG Lüneburg from Germany, wrapping up the match in just over an hour.
From the very start of the game, Resovia were in complete control, with Karol Butryn who led the attack with another high-scoring display, 19 points, as well as MVP awards. Lüneburg struggled to find their rhythm, as Resovia dictated play in all three sets.
Pool D also saw Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie also from Poland continue their winning run. Playing away in Lisbon, Portugal, they defeated Sporting the hosts CP Lisboa in straight sets. Despite the 0-3 (22:25, 24:26, 20:25) result, the match was tightly contested, particularly early on, before Zawiercie’s experience proved to be decisive. Aaron Russell topped the scoring charts scoring 19 points through 63% in attack, 2 aces and 2 blocks, Kyle Ensing added 16, while captain Mateusz Bieniek earned MVP honors also contributing with 12 through 85% in attack (11/13) and 1 block.
In Pool A, Italian powerhouse Trentino Itas showed resilience on the road, recovering from a slow start to beat France’s Tours VB 1-3 (25:19, 24:26, 12:25, 20:25).
After dropping the first set, they took advantage from the hosts level drop, gradually taking control, with Théo Faure delivering a standout performance to secure a second group-stage victory,
scoring 24 points through 62% in attack, 2 winning blocks and 1 ace.
Nik Mujanovic scored 29 points for the hosts.
