Poland: comeback for Trefl Gdańsk vs. Ślepsk Malow Suwałki on Friday game of Round 16

After the advance played on Monday, in which Indykpol AZS Olsztyn down Barkom Każany Lwów at tie break, Round 16 of 2025/26 Plusliga continued today with the clash between Energa Trefl Gdańsk and Ślepsk Malow Suwałki, with the visiting side which wasted a 0-2 lead to surrender after a never ending tie break, 3-2 (21:25, 21:25, 25:23, 25:14, 22:20).
The visitors from Suwałki looked firmly in control early, taking the first two sets with confident play and powerful attack. Gdańsk, however, refused to surrender and, backed by their home crowd, they edged a tight third set before dominating the fourth to force a decisive tie-break.
The final set was a dramatic, point-for-point battle, but the hosts held their nerve to seal a dramatic 22–20 victory to complete the comeback.
Piotr Orczyk led the turnaround with an outstanding all-around performance and was named MVP, while Aliaksei Nasevich led the charge with 22 points to his name, closely followed by Piotr Orczyk with 21 and Tobias Brand with 18.
For Suwałki, Asparuh Asparuhov was the match’s top scorer with 25 points, well supported by Bartosz Filipiak who added 19 and Henrique Honorato with 16.
After the weekend of Polish Cup finals, Plusliga and Round 16 will continue on Tuesday with the game between ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle and PGE GiEK SKRA Bełchatów.
