Italy: first 3 points win for Cisterna! Monza defeated in four sets in game that closed Round 16

In a game that closed Round 16 of 2025/26 Superlega Credem Banca or, if you prefer, Round 5 of second leg, Cisterna Volley celebrated a great 3-1 (25:22, 25:23, 18:25, 25:22) home win over Vero Volley Monza.
This was Cisterna’s first three points victory as well as their first win after 9 losses in a row in Superlega!
Four players left the court in double digit, with Tommaso Barotto who led the charge with 18 points to his name, closely followed by Filippo Lanza, who added 17, while Fabian Plak and Efe Bayram also contributed with 12 and 11, respectively.
Cisterna edged two close opening sets, dropped the third, then regrouped to close the match in the fourth, pulling away late to secure the win. The victory stretched Cisterna’s advantage over last-place Grottazzolina to six points and kept their postseason hopes alive.
Setter Alessandro Fanizza earned MVP honors.
Superlega will continue on Saturday with the advance of Round 17 between Rana Verona and newcomers MA Acqua S.Bernardo Cuneo.
