CEV Cup: only (four sets) away wins on Wednesday games of 1/8 Finals. Home victory only for Orion Stars Doetinchem!

After a straigjt sets win of Dinamo Bucuresti over Alterna SPVB Poitiers, 2025/26 CEV Cup 1/8 Finals continued today with other six games.
The day started with five four sets away win, and three teams which took first step towards next stage of the competition.
In Greece, ČEZ Karlovarsko from Czech Republic down the hosts Olympiacos Piraeus with the score of 1-3 (24:26, 22:25, 29:27, 20:25), and they did it after two hours and ten minutes of play, canceling Aleksandar Atanasijevic’s 21 points and Gordon Perrin’s 18, while Renars Jansons top-scored the winners with 16 points.
The same did Greenyard Maaseik from Belgium, who won in Türkiye on the field of ON Hotels Alanya Bld after losing first set, 1-3 (25:23, 17:25, 18:25, 20:25). To make the difference a good performance from serve’s line with 8 aces and 22 points from Pierre Perin with 2 aces, 2 winning blocks and 67% in attack, while Bardia Saadat scored the same number of points on the other side of the net, but he wasn’t enough to snatch at least one point against a team which won next three sets without major o roblems.
In Slovenia, Turkish powerhouse FenerbahƧe Medicana Istanbul down the hosts OK Alpacem Kanal by 1-3 (25:22, 19:25, 23:25, 19:25), after losing first set too, with 16 points from Adis Lagumdzija and 14 from Earvin Ngapeth while, in Spain, Italy’s Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza rejected the comeback’s attempt of the hosts RĆ­o Duero Soria collecting a 1-3 (20:25, 20:25, 25:23, 17:25) win, with 23 points from top scorer Alessandro Bovolenta.
An unexpected defeat came from Germany, where Belgium’s Tectum Achel stun the hosts VfB Fridrichshafen also with the score of 1-3 (21:25, 25:20, 22:25, 23:25), with 26 points from Jippe Schroeven (48% in attack and 1 block), while the only team who won in straight sets and in front of their home fans was The Netherlands’ Orion Stars Doetinchem, after beating CSM Corona Brasov from Romania with the score of 3-0 (25:20, 25:22, 27:25) with 11 winning blocks, 19 points from top scorer Gijs Jorna (54% in attack and 1 block), closely followed by Wouter Ter Maat who added 18 through 52% in attack and 3 blocks.
Tomorrow Finland’s Akaa Volley will welcome one of the most credited team for the title, Poland’s JSW Jastrzebski Wegiel, in last game of 1/8 Finals first leg.
