Poland: Round 20 continues – tie break victoires for new leaders PGE Projekt Warszawa and Barkom Każany Lwów. Lublin ko!

After the advance played yesterday, in which JSW Jastrzębski Węgiel won at tie break on the field of InPost ChKS Chełm, Round 20 of 2025/26 Plusliga continued today with other two games, delivering high drama with both featured matches ended at tie break.
The day started with PGE Projekt Warszawa who struggled more than expected on the field of Ślepsk Malow Suwałki, winning the game only at tie break, 2-3 (25:20, 20:25, 25:20, 21:25, 10:15). However, this was enough to regain the top of the standings boasting 40 points and a +1 (temporary) lead over Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, who tomorrow will face No.4 Asseco Resovia Rzeszów at home. The teams traded sets throughout, but the team from country’s capital held their nerve in the decider, led by Brandon Koppers who earned MVP honors with his 15 points including 2 aces and an impressive 76% in attack, and Bartosz Bednorz, top scorer of the game with 20.
In the evening, in Lublin, Bogdanka LUK Lublin let a tight contest slip away, falling 2-3 (22:25, 25:17, 21:25, 25:19, 12:15) to second-to-last Barkom Każany Lwów. The visitors edged the opening set and responded every time the hosts fought back, ultimately sealing the match in an hard-fought tie-break. Outside hitter Lorenzo Pope led the winners and was named MVP with 16 points through 41% in attack, 2 blocks and 1 ace, while Vasyl Tupchii added 17.
The win also helped Barkom extend their lead over bottom-placed Steam Hemarpol Politechnika Częstochowa to five points.
Round 20 will continue tomorrow with other two games: ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle will face Energa Trefl Gdańsk while, in the evening, Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie will welcome No.4 Asseco Resovia Rzeszów in big match of the day.
