Italy: Monza and Modena open Round 20 with victories

After the great volleyball and the show of Del Monte Coppa Italia played last week in Bologna, Round 20 of 2025/26 Superlega CredemBanca or, if you prefer, Round 9, of second leg, started today with two advances, in which Vero Volley Monza and Valsa Group Modena emerged victorious.
The first one literally destroyed a disappointing Sonepar Padova, who also suffered the absences on Veljko Masulovic and captain Alberto Polo, to consolidate eight place in the standings celebrating a clean 3-0 (25:16, 25:22, 25:16).

Young Diego Frascio earned MVP honors with 19 points to his name, well supported by Martin Atanasov also in double digit with 12, while Mattia Orioli scored 10 points on the other side of the net.
Meanwhile Modena, after a 0-2 lead on the field of Cucine Lube Civitanova, suffered the hosts’ comeback to force the game at tie break, managing then to win a dramatic game with the score of 2-3 (17:25, 22:25, 25:17, 25:18, 13:15).
Modena so touch, at least temporarily, third place in the standings, now occupied by Itas Trentino, who tomorrow will welcome last-placed Grottazzolina, while Civitanova, now with 35 points, remain at sixth place.
MVP of the game Vlad Davyskiba, who left the court with 16 points, while Argentina National Team opposite Pablo Kukartsev, who started from the bench, played a great game putting down 12 points. Aleksandar Nikolov, top scorer of the game, tallied 22 points for the home team, but he wasn’t enough.
Round 20 will completed tomorrow with the remaining games.
