France: Coupe de France finalist Paris stun Montpellier in advance of Round 23!

Round 23 of 2025/26 MARMARA Spike League started today with the advance of between Coupe de France finalist Paris, at 12th place in the standings prior this game, and No.2 Montpellier, ended with the score of 3-1 (23:25, 25:23, 25:17, 25:19) in favor of the home side!
After a tie break win on Tuesday in semifinal of Coupe de France against Chaumont, the team from country’s capital continues to impress after almost two hours of play, stopping the rivals’ series of 7 wins in a row!
Vasily Molotkov earned MVP honors with 21 points to his name through 38% in attack, 4 aces and 3 winning blocks, while Daniel Wetter and François Huetz also contributed with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Interestingly, this was third win in 4 games for Paris under the command of head coach Mauricio Motta Paes (3-1 win over Cannes, then a defeat against Narbonne, the success in semifinal of Coupe de France, and today the great win against Montpellier!).
Montpellier, on the other hand, wasted the chance to surpass, at least temporarily, current leaders Tours, who will play on Saturday on the field of second-to-last Saint Nazaire.
Round 23 will continue tomorrow with other two games: Sète will welcome Nice in a very important game for playoffs race, while No.3 Tourcoing will face No.4 Poitiers.
