CEV Cup: Lüneburg first semifinalist! Poitiers defeated in four sets also in second leg

SVG Lüneburg is first semifinalist of 2025/26 CEV Cup!
After a four sets win in Germany in first leg, the team coached by Stefan Hübner did the same in France winning with the same result on the field of Alterna SPVB Poitiers, 1-3 (27:29, 25:19, 24:26, 24:26), with 14 points from Axel Enlund (50% in attack and 1 block), while setter Santeri Välimaa was named MVP.
Double digit also for Daniel Gruvaeus and Axel Larsen, who added 13 and 10 points, respectively, while Thomas Pujol topped all charts scoring 17 points on the other side of the net (56% in attack, 1 ace and 1 block), even if his team had to say good bye to the competition.

In front of 1,892 fans in Poitiers, both teams played a balanced game that was reflected in the final statistics, with the total points ending 100–100!
The opening set was closely contested before Lüneburg edged it 29–27 overtime. Poitiers responded in the second set, using strong attacks from Kevin Kobrine and Simon Magnin to level the match 25–19.
The third set proved to be decisive as, trailing late, Lüneburg mounted a comeback led by Ethan Champlin, who delivered a crucial serving run to turn a 22–24 deficit into a 26–24 win, securing the two sets needed to advance. With qualification already sealed, the German side still finished strong, taking the fourth set 26–24.

Lüneburg will now face the winner of the quarterfinal between Greenyard Maaseik and Galatasaray HDI Istanbul in the semi-finals. The Belgian side won in Türkiye at tie break a week ago, and second leg is scheduled tomorrow starting from 8.30pm Local Time.
