Poland: ZAKSA shock Zawiercie in last quarterfinal Game 1!

With all 2025/26 Plusliga quarterfinals best-of-three series ended in straight sets in favor of the favorites, PGE Projekt Warszawa, Asseco Resovia Rzeszów and Bogdanka LUK Lublin, regular season winners Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie suffered a heavy defeat against No.8 ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle, even wasting a 2-0 lead.
After winning first two sets with a double 25-22, with a great play from Bartosz Kwolek, and a monster block on Rafał Szymura at 23-21 on the second one, the visiting side re-opened the game with Jakub Szymański who closed third set with three aces in a row, showing then a great resilience, above all in decisive fifth set, 2-3 (25:22, 25:22, 18:25, 20:25, 20:22).
Kamil Rychlicki earned MVP honors leaving the court with 27 points to his name through 46% in attack, 3 aces and 3 blocks, well supported by a great Szymański who added 19 including 4 blocks and 6 of the winners’ 12 aces!
Bartłomiej Bołądź top-scored the hosts with 23 points to his name, with Aluron who need to win Game 2 on the field of the rivals to keep their semifinals hope alive.
