Italy: Perugia open semifinal series against Piacenza with a win!

In Game 1 of 2025/25 Superlega CredemBanca semifinals, played on Easter Monday, regular season winners Sir Susa Scai Perugia celebrated a great 3-1 (25:23, 25:21, 20:25, 25:22) home win over No.5 Gas Sales BluEnergy Piacenza, who suffered the heavy absence of outside hitter Efe Mandiraci, great protagonist of quarterfinal series against Valsa Group Modena, ended in five games.
Perugia claimed the first two sets, before Piacenza responded in the third one, improving their play. The hosts, however, regained control in a tight fourth set, closing it 25-22 to secure the match.
Wassim Ben Tara led the winners with 19 points to his name also earning MVP honors with 64% in attack and 1 block, alongside Oleh Plotnytskyi who added 18 and Kamil Semeniuk with 13 while, for Piacenza, Robertlandy Simon matched the top score with 19 points, supported by Alessandro Bovolenta who added 14 and José Gutierrez with 13.
Numbers showed a match that Perugia closed with 9 aces, 11 blocks and 55% in attack, while Piacenza posted 10 aces and 9 blocks, but made more unforced errors from the service line and a weaker reception.
Now this series will move to Piacenza, when, on Thursday, Gas Sales BluEnergy will welcome Perugia.
