Italy: Verona sweep Civitanova in semifinals opener!

In Game 1 of 2025/25 Superlega CredemBanca semifinals, No.2 in regular season and Coppa Italia winners Rana Verona celebrated a straight sets home win over No.6 Cucine Lube Civitanova, 3-0 (34:32, 25:21, 25:21), to take a 1-0 lead in best-of-five series.
Despite a strong start from the visiting side started strong in first set, claiming and early lead and then even 14-19, Verona regrouped and, with a collection of great plays and resilience, managed to close it 34-32, with a great performance from the serve’s line, 7 aces only in this set, and 9 points from Noumory Keita!
And then Civitanova collapsed, suffering the rivals’ play, unable to re-open a game that became one-sided, with the hosts who celebrated a well-deserved straight sets win in front of 5005 volleyball fans at their Pala Agsm AIM.
Setter Micah Christenson well orchestrated their team sending three players in double digit, with Keita who led the offense with 15 points to his name through 55% in attack and 3 aces, closely followed by Darlan, who added 13 and captain Rok Mozic who also contributed with 11.
On the other side of the net, Aleksandar Nikolov fought hard, leaving the court as top scorer with 20 points (61% in attack and 3 blocks), but he wasn’t enough.
Now the series will move to Civitanova Marche on Wednesday, while tomorrow, on Easter Monday, Sir Susa Scai Perugia will welcome Gas Sales BluEnergy Piacenza in other Semifinal series.
