Piacenza sweep Lüneburg on the road in first leg of 2025/26 CEV Cup Final!

2025/26 CEV Cup Final opened with a 0-3 (24:26, 22:25, 16:25) sweep of Italian side Gas Sales BluEnergy Piacenza on the field of Germany’s SVG Lüneburg.
A clean success against a rival whose performance has been far from what he has achieved so far, including the victory in Game 1 of the Budesliga semifinal against Düren, even wasting a 14-9 lead in first set, then very balanced with a great team in serving from Simon and a good efficiency from
Josè Gutierrez, and a 16-10 lead in the second set, collapsing again in the decisive moments of the game until a one-sided third set.
Piacenza then take the control of the match until the decisive 16-25, without giving any more space for the hosts to react.
Setter Paolo Porro earned MVP honors, while Alessandro Bovolenta was the most prolific player of the match with 16 points, followed by an excellent Gutierrez, who added 11, Efe Mandiraci, who marked his return with 10 points and Gianluca Galassi, who added 9 points through 100% in attack and 2 blocks.
Second leg in Italy next Wednesday, April 22, with the home side with a strong advantage to claim the title, needing just two sets!
