Piacenza lift 2026 CEV Cup! Lüneburg defeated again in straight sets!

After a straight sets win in Germany, Italy’s Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza sweep SVG Lüneburg also in front of their home fans at a full-packed PalaBanca with the same result, 3-0 (25:20, 25:17, 25:21), after winning the two sets they needed, that were enough to let’s get the party started!
And the third set was the cherry on the top, without lapses in focus confirming their supremacy, just like in first leg.
For Piacenza this is first European title in club’s history, that came after a great first set dominated, with great performances in blocking from Simon and Gianluca Galassi, with Alessandro Bovolenta who put down the ace of 8-3. Despite an attempt from Lüneburg to re-open the set with a 13-10, the hosts keep control with Paolo Porro’s ace that marked the 19-14, the closed at second set point with a clean 25-20.
Piacenza did even better in second set, until the final points from Gutierrez which give to them the trophy and, despite a large turnover, they closed the one-sided match in straight sets.
MVP of the match Robertlandy Simon, awarded at the end of the match in what was his last game with Piacenza’s jersey. He left the court with 11 points through an impressive 82% in attack and 2 blocks, well supported by top scorer Alessandro Bovolenta, who added 12, and a decisive Efe Mandiraci, who tallied 7 points through 70% in attack.
