An almost perfect Sir Susa Scai Perugia open 2025/26 Superlega CredemBanca Final in a perfect way, sweeping Cucine Lube Civitanova in front of 4951 volleyball fans at a full-packed PalaBarton Energy, 3-0 (25:21, 25:17, 25:22).
Wassim Ben Tara (awarded MVP of semifinals before the game) led the winners with 15 points to his name through 50% in attack and 1 block (7 only in second set), putting down also the point No.500 of this season in Superlega, well supported by Oleh Plotnytskyi and Roberto Russo (89% in attack and 3 blocks), who added 11 each.
On the other side of the net, only Aleksandar Nikolov reached a double digit with 10 points, while MVP honors went to setter Simone Giannelli.
In a very balanced first set, Perugia hit the accelerator in key moments before closing it with a block from Roberto Russo, and the home side kept the control also for the rest of the game.
Other milestones added to the night as Sebastian Solé and Fabio Balaso both reached 400 SuperLega appearances, while Ben Tara also surpassed 1,500 career points in the competition!
Now the best-of-five series will move to Civitanova where, on Sunday, the home time will try to tie the series in front of their home fans at EuroSuole Forum for second act of a clash between two rivals that met each others six times in Final (and it is a record!).
In 2017/18, with Game 1 won with the score of 3-1 by Perugia, Perugia won tue title but, in 2018/19, Perugia also opened the series with a 3-0 celebrated at home, but Civitanova won the title at PalaBarton in Game 5!
