Good evening everyone. This new daily column was born from a crazy idea by our two contributors currently in Turin for the Champions League final. It will be a daily appointment, from Monday to Friday, at 20.00 CEST, to keep you updated on everything happening in the world of volleyball (or at least they’ll try — should we trust them?).
We’ve already talked extensively about the Champions League finals in Turin with photogalleries and articles, won by Perugia for second years in a row against Poland’s Aluron CMC Warta Zawierce, yes again, while Ziraat Bankkart claimed a historical Bronze, so in this first experimental episode, we’ll start with what happened over the weekend.
At first, Indonesia’s Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi created history after winning the 2026 AVC Men’s Champions League title, becoming the first Indonesian club to lift the continental trophy after defeating Iran’s Foolad Sirjan Iranian 3-1 (25:20, 24:26, 25:23, 25:23) in the final in Pontianak to cap an unbeaten campaign and qualify for the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship.
Malian star Noumory Keita led the winners with an impressive 38 points and was named the tournament’s MVP, while his teammate in Verona too Rok Mozic added 16 points in the victory.
Foolad Sirjan Iranian also secured a spot at the Club World Championship after finishing runners-up.
Earlier, Japan’s JTEKT Stings Aichi claimed bronze after sweeping South Korea’s Cheonan Hyundai Capital Skywalkers in straight sets, 3-0 (25:19, 25:19, 25:21).
…and then a mention also for legendary Robertlandy Simon, hired by Jakarta for playoffs, who claimed his 24th trophy of his career on a club level!
Meanwhile in Japan, Osaka Bluteon fought back from an opening defeat to overcome defending champions Suntory Sunbirds to win the 2025/26 Daido Life SV.League championship.
The club secured the series 2-1 after a commanding straight-sets victory on Sunday’s decider at Yokohama Arena, with Opposite Yuji Nishida who was named Finals MVP, well supported by Cuban outside hitter Miguel Lopez,
top scorer with 19 points.
Dmitry Muserskiy scored 18 points in the final match of his career before retirement.
“The players continued fighting under pressure and stayed focused until the final point,” Bluteon head coach Tuomas Sammelvuo said after the victory.
Final Series Results:
• Suntory Sunbirds Osaka – Osaka Bluteon 3-1 (26:24, 22:25, 25:16, 25:23)
• Osaka Bluteon – Suntory Sunbirds Osaka 3-2 (13:25, 25:23, 25:22, 20:25, 15:9)
• Osaka Bluteon – Suntory Sunbirds Osaka 3-0 (25:22, 25:20, 25:18)
About transfers, as already mentioned on our list of official world transfers 2026/27, French powerhouse Tours Volley-Ball made official middle blocker François Huetz, last season author of a great season with the jersey of Coupe de France winners Paris, middle blocker Simon Roehrig, last season in Tourcoing together with setter Bruno Dias.
And so see you tomorrow, also at 20.00 CEST!
