Italy: Setter Kellian Motta Paes from Cannes to Verona. He will be Christenson’s backup!

According to our local sources, Verona Volley have signed young French setter Kellian Motta Paes, born in 2002, as the backup to volleyball legend Micah Christenson.
Last season, playing for AS Cannes in the 2025/26 campaign, he reached the playoff quarterfinals, where his team faced the reigning champions Montpellier.
He began his career with France Avenir 2024 before making the jump to the top French division with Paris Volley. He then moved to Poland, joining PSG Stal Nysa, before returning to France to play for Cannes.
The son of Maurício Paes, the Brazilian coach with extensive experience in both French and international volleyball, he has also represented France at youth level. He captained the France U22 national team and was part of the squad that reached the final of the European Championship in his age category.
