Second week of 2026 CEV Volleyball European League started today with 9 games, 7 of them ended in straight sets.
The tournament started with a home win of Finland at Veikkaus Areena in Helsinki. After struggling in a hard-fought first sets, the hosts literally destroyed Albania with the score of 0-3 (32:34, 18:25, 11:25), with a great team performance in attack (65% compared to the rivals’36%), 7 blocks, 8 aces and another great performance from Luka Marttila, top scorer of the match with 3 aces and an impressive 75% in attack. Veikka Lindqvist added 17 with 1 ace, 1 block and 60% in attack.
Straight sets home win also for Czech Republic, who sweep in front of more than 3000 home fans in Jihlava Bosnia&Herzegovina 0-3 (16:25, 22:25, 15:25), with 17 points from Patrik Indra (60% in attack, 1 ace and 1 of the winners’ 10 winning blocks).
Estonia, also at home in Tallinn, did even better trampled over modest Kosovo 0-3 (13:25, 13:25, 9:25) after just 68 minutes of play overpowering the rivals in all elements, led by a perfect Alex Saaremaa, top scorer of the match with 14 points through 100% in attack, 4 blocks and 3 aces.
Straight sets home victories also for Switzerland, who down Luxembourg 0-3 (22:25, 20:25, 20:25) in Kriens,
