Nigeria captured the boys’ title while Tunisia triumphed in the girls’ tournament as the 14th CAVB African U18 Volleyball Championship came to a successful close in Alexandria, Egypt, with both finalists securing qualification for the upcoming FIVB U18 World Championship.

The 14th CAVB African U18 Boys’ and Girls’ Volleyball Championship officially concluded on Wednesday at Alexandria’s Pioneer Club after ten days of high-level competition that brought together 14 national teams representing nine African countries.
Organized under the patronage of Egypt’s Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Governorate of Alexandria, the tournament once again showcased the rapid growth of youth volleyball across the African continent, setting a new participation record while attracting significant media attention and enthusiastic crowds throughout the event.

Nigeria were crowned African U18 Boys’ Champions after a commanding straight-set victory over hosts Egypt in the gold medal match, winning 25:22, 25:21, 25:14.
The triumph capped an unbeaten campaign for the West Africans, who had already defeated Egypt during the preliminary round before eliminating Libya in the quarterfinals and Cameroon in the semifinals.
Egypt, backed by the home crowd, enjoyed an excellent tournament of their own. After finishing second in Pool A, the hosts overcame Algeria in the quarterfinals and edged Tunisia in a dramatic five-set semifinal to secure a place in the championship match before ultimately settling for silver.
Cameroon completed the podium by defeating Tunisia to claim the bronze medal.

Beyond the results, the championship highlighted the continued development of African volleyball at youth level. The tournament featured a record number of participating teams, competitive matches of a high technical standard, extensive television coverage, and strong public attendance throughout the ten-day event.
Widely praised by participating delegations and officials, the championship once again demonstrated Egypt’s ability to successfully host major continental volleyball competitions while providing Africa’s next generation of talent with an important stage on the international pathway.
