The countdown to the new SuperLega season is almost over, and the PalaGeorge in Montichiari is once again providing the stage for a weekend of top-level men’s volleyball.
The fifth edition of the Trofeo Ferramenta Astori takes place on October 10–11, bringing together Valsa Group Modena, Pallavolo Padova, Rana Verona and Vero Volley Monza for two days of competition just one week before the Italian championship gets underway.

Modena made a convincing start on Saturday, defeating Padova 3-0 (25:22, 32:30, 25:19) in the opening semifinal to book its place in Sunday’s final.
The straight-sets victory gave the Emilia-based side the first result of the tournament and sent Padova into the battle for third place.
With no room for a second chance in the knockout format, the opening match set the tone for a weekend in which every set matters, even as the four teams continue their preparations for the season ahead.
The winners made the difference in blocking, with 8 points from this element compared to Padova’s 3, while Italian National Team middle blocker Pardo Mati left the court as top scorer with 15 points, closely followed by Nik Muijanovic in his first game for Modena who added 14. Brendan Mills was the most prolific player for Padova with 11 points, closely followed by Mattia Orioli who added 10 including two aces that tried to re-open decisive second set.

The second semifinal saw Rana Verona take on Vero Volley Monza, with the winners joining Modena in the fight for the trophy, and trophy defending Champions Verona, after losing first set, won the game 3-1 (19:25, 25:22, 25:22, 25:19).
Sunday’s programme will feature the third-place game at 3:30 p.m., followed by the final at 6:30 p.m. The tournament offers all four sides a valuable opportunity to sharpen their game, assess their progress and build momentum before the points start counting in the SuperLega standings.

MORE TO FOLLOW

There is more to the Trofeo Ferramenta Astori than the results on the court, however.
Organised by Volley Montichiari with Ferramenta Astori as title sponsor, the event has grown into an established fixture on the Italian volleyball calendar. Now in its fifth edition, it continues to promote the values of commitment, respect, teamwork and fair play, while bringing elite-level volleyball closer to the local community.
This year’s edition also highlights the social responsibility behind the project. Among its initiatives is the Borsa della pallavolo, designed to help young people access volleyball by easing the financial burden that sporting activities can place on families. The event also works alongside AVIS and AIDO in promoting solidarity, volunteering and the importance of donation.
With four SuperLega teams, a full weekend of competition and the new season just around the corner, Montichiari once again becomes a meeting point for players, supporters and the wider volleyball community. Modena has already taken the first step towards the trophy.
The remaining matches will decide who leaves the PalaGeorge with the title — but the fifth Trofeo Ferramenta Astori is about more than a single winner: it is also a celebration of the sport and the community that keeps it growing.
