MILAN, October 13, 2026 – Ten years in Milan, eight alongside Allianz, two European trophies and a growing connection with the city.
Allianz Milano officially unveiled its roster and coaching staff for the 2026/27 season at Allianz Tower in CityLife, marking a significant milestone in the club’s history while looking ahead to a new sporting chapter under Spanish head coach Guillermo Falasca.
The presentation brought together institutional representatives, sporting authorities, partners, supporters and members of the media for an evening celebrating a decade of volleyball, ambition and community engagement.
The anniversary was reflected in the club’s new slogan, “10 Years with Milan. Ghe sem!”, and in a new joint logo incorporating the number ten.
The Milanese expression “Ghe sem!”, meaning “We’re here!”, captured the spirit of a club determined to strengthen its place in the city while continuing to compete at the highest level.
Following Allianz’s opening remarks, Radio Number One presenter Claudio Chiari introduced Powervolley Milano president Lucio Fusaro, who reflected on the club’s journey and outlined the ambitions accompanying its tenth year in Milan.
“Ten years ago, we began a journey that has made us an increasingly integral part of the city. A great deal has changed over this decade: the players and coaches have changed, and we have achieved important results, including two European Cups, but our determination to build something meaningful in Milan has remained unchanged. Being here, at Allianz Tower, as guests of our sponsor and friend Maurizio Devescovi, in the heart of the city, has special significance for us. Allianz Milano does not want to be just a volleyball team, but a project that is part of Milan, engages with the local community and creates opportunities through sport, especially for young people. That is why, alongside our first team, we continue to invest in our youth sector and social projects, supported by our excellent collaboration with Fondazione Allianz UMANA MENTE through initiatives such as Volley4All and Hol4All, and with Csi through Training 4 Future. These initiatives are, above all, about human values.
We will bring back the Club dei 30 and the Powervolley Cup – Elena Gori Trophy, named in honour of our dear supporter who recently passed away. I am also thinking of the Jam Camp for volleyball and basketball, extraordinary opportunities for people to meet and grow, which have welcomed great figures from the sporting world, such as Dan Peterson, who generously and enthusiastically make themselves available to young people. On the court, we are beginning another chapter. We have chosen Guillermo Falasca to lead the team and built a squad that combines a giant like Simón with highly experienced players and young talents who represent the future of our sport. We know that a demanding season lies ahead, but we have enthusiasm and ambition. Our message for this tenth anniversary is simple: ‘Ghe sem!’ We are here, once again, with Milan and for Milan.”
Maurizio Devescovi, Senior Advisor at Allianz S.p.A. and president of Fondazione Allianz UMANA MENTE, reaffirmed the importance of the partnership and its wider social objectives.
“As Allianz, we are pleased to begin another season alongside Allianz Powervolley Milano. Over the years, the club has successfully combined sporting competitiveness, attention to young people and a commitment to the community. Sport has a unique ability to build relationships, promote inclusion and create opportunities for younger generations. That is why Allianz continues to believe in Powervolley and in the many projects that, together with Fondazione Allianz UMANA MENTE and local partners, take the value of sport far beyond the competitive achievements of the first team and the youth sector in recent years. It is a commitment that puts people before competitions.”
The institutional programme also featured Martina Riva, Milan City Councillor for Sport, Tourism and Youth Policies, Marco Riva, president of CONI Lombardia, and Massimo Sala, vice-president of the Italian Volleyball Federation, underlining the increasingly close relationship between Allianz Milano, the city and the wider volleyball community.
That relationship extends well beyond the results of the first team.
Vice-president of Powervolley and president of Csi Milano Massimo Achini presented the Club dei 30, the Powervolley Cup – Elena Gori Trophy and the return of Training 4 Future, initiatives designed to create opportunities for participation, personal development and community engagement through sport.
The club also highlighted its long-standing collaboration with Fondazione Allianz UMANA MENTE through Volley4All, which uses volleyball as a tool for inclusion, as well as its recent participation in Hol4All in Madonna di Campiglio. One of the initiative’s most memorable moments involved Allianz Milano SuperLega players leading children and families in a special sitting volleyball session. Athletes, children, parents and siblings shared the court at the same level, breaking down physical barriers and demonstrating how sport can create genuine opportunities for connection, enjoyment and teamwork.
Youth development remains another central pillar of the club’s identity. General manager and sporting director Fabio Lini presented the Allianz Diavoli Powervolley project, built on the partnership between Powervolley and Diavoli Rosa, outlining its structure, the breadth of its teams and the achievements of the past season.
Among the highlights were the Italian Under-17 championship title and Allianz Milano’s historic participation in the Final Eight of the 33rd edition of the Del Monte Junior League in 2026. Representatives of the youth teams, together with their captains and coaches, took to the stage before a special recognition ceremony involving Vanni Benenti, Danilo Durand and Paola Monaco.
The youth programme comprises 12 women’s teams, ranging from mini-volleyball to Under-19, Serie D and regional Serie C, alongside 20 men’s teams competing across age groups from mini-volleyball to Under-18, as well as regional Serie D and national Serie B. The scale of the project reflects the club’s commitment to building a sustainable future by developing talent and providing young players with a pathway towards higher levels of competition.
The Jam Camp, which combines volleyball and basketball with opportunities to learn from established athletes and sporting legends, was also celebrated. Figures such as former basketball coach Dan Peterson and volleyball coach Enrico Barbolini have contributed to an environment in which sport becomes an opportunity for learning, inspiration and personal growth.
On the court, however, the tenth anniversary also marks a significant change. After seven seasons, the chapter with head coach Roberto Piazza has come to an end, making way for Guillermo Falasca, the first foreign head coach in Powervolley’s history.
The Spaniard, a former European champion as a player, brings coaching experience from France, Italy’s SuperLega and Poland, and will lead a squad combining established international names with ambitious young players.
The coaching staff has also been refreshed. Davide Delmati takes over as assistant coach, Alessandro Guazzaloca becomes the new strength and conditioning coach, and Salvatore Nicastro joins as scoutman. The medical and physiotherapy staff remain unchanged.
At the centre of the new project is Robertlandy Simón, one of the most recognisable middle blockers in international volleyball. His arrival adds considerable experience and presence to a squad that also features a promising group of young talents and players looking to establish themselves in the SuperLega.
The team captain is libero Damiano Catania, 25, an Italian international entering his fourth season in Milan. Renowned for his defensive effectiveness and spectacular court coverage, he will continue to lead the team alongside fellow libero Jacopo Corbetta, a product of the Powervolley youth system developed through Diavoli Rosa.
In the middle, Simón will be joined by confirmed player Alessandro Benacchio and new arrivals Filippo Bartolucci and Davi Tenorio, giving Falasca several options in a position where experience and potential will need to complement one another.
The outside hitter department features a blend of international talent and Italian promise. While Francesco “Checco” Recine continues his recovery from injury, the confirmed pairing of Japan’s Tatsunori Otsuka and Belgium’s Seppe Rotty will be joined by Tommaso Ichino, fresh from his first summer with the Italian national team, and Bulgarian international Georgi Tatarov.
At setter, experienced Argentine Santi Orduna brings creativity, speed and leadership, while Simone Porro steps up to the SuperLega, following in the footsteps of his brother Paolo and beginning a new stage in his own career.
The opposite position will be occupied by Belgian scorer Basil Dermaux, who arrives with an impressive Champions League scoring record and the task of making an immediate impact, alongside young world champion Federico Argano, who is preparing for his first season in Italy’s top division.
The result is a roster designed to balance established international quality with the development of players who could become central figures in the club’s future. For Falasca, the challenge will be to turn that combination into a competitive unit capable of meeting the expectations that accompany Allianz Milano’s anniversary season.
The evening also provided the first look at the club’s new Erreà match kits. A video presentation revealed the colours, fabrics and patterns that will accompany the team throughout the 2026/27 campaign. Captain Catania and other squad members took part in the unveiling, introducing a fresh look while retaining the identity associated with Allianz Milano.
The celebrations will soon give way to competition.
Allianz Milano will begin its SuperLega campaign away against Cisterna on Sunday, October 18, before making its home debut at the Allianz Cloud on Sunday, October 25, at 7 p.m. against Acqua Sant’Anna Cuneo.
The presentation concluded with a reception for guests on the 47th floor of Allianz Tower, bringing an evening dedicated to the club’s past, present and future to a close. Ten years after beginning its journey in Milan, Powervolley is entering a new era with a renewed roster, a different voice on the bench and the same ambition to remain an integral part of the city.
“Ghe sem!” is more than the slogan for an anniversary. For Allianz Milano, it is a statement of intent for the decade ahead.
