Welcome to the 107th Episode of VolleyBar!
A little reminder for our new readers: this is the first-ever daily column dedicated to bringing together all the major volleyball news of the day. Anything similar you see elsewhere is nothing more than a poor imitation, copied by people who have even gone so far as to publish word-for-word Italian translations of our articles, naturally without crediting the original source. And to make matters worse, most of the news they publish comes straight from here, including unusual trnsfers news published yesterday and news from Philippines. Absolutely ridicoulous.

Plagiarism and italian “colleagues” apart, Galatasaray defeated Ziraat Bankkart Ankara 3–1 to claim the Turkish men’s Super Cup, earning the Istanbul club its second title in the competition. Canadian outside hitter Stephen Maar was named MVP after scoring 21 points, while Efe Mandıracı added 16. Ziraat’s Nimir Abdel-Aziz finished with an impressive 30 points, but his individual performance was not enough to prevent defeat.

Meanwhile, the FIVB published the beach volleyball pools for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games on October 12. This offers a timely international development story: the beach game continues to be an important part of the Olympic pathway, giving young athletes experience on a major international stage.

At the Tokyo 1964 Olympic Games, Poland’s women’s volleyball team defeated the Republic of Korea 3–0 on October 13. Women’s volleyball was making its Olympic debut at these Games, alongside men’s volleyball, marking a major milestone in the sport’s international development.
The result itself was part of the round-robin competition rather than a medal match, but the date is useful for a historical feature because it falls within the first Olympic tournament for women’s volleyball.

Twenty-two years ago, on October 13 2004, at the PalaMaggetti in Roseto degli Abruzzi, Sisley Treviso defeated Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo in straight sets, winning 25:19, 27:25, 25:15. The final lasted just 78 minutes and was watched by 3,100 spectators.
Alessandro Fei was the star of the match, scoring 18 points and earning the MVP award. The victory secured Treviso’s second consecutive Italian Super Cup and fifth overall.
It also ended Treviso’s losing streak against Cuneo in the Super Cup final, having previously lost to the same opponents in 1996 and 1999. Sisley went on to win the Italian Cup later that season, adding another trophy to an already remarkable campaign.

A Turkish international middle blocker associated with VakıfBank and one of the country’s leading women’s clubs, Kübra Akman, born on October 13, 1994, turns 32 today. At 1.98 metres, Akman has played in a position where timing, blocking and quick attacks are central to a team’s defensive and offensive systems. Her birth date is confirmed by the Turkish Volleyball Federation’s player database.

Veronika Trnková, a Czech international who has played professionally in several European competitions, including Italy and the Czech Republic, was born on October 13, 1995.

And now, waiting for an italian version of the following news, Singapore national team member Jordan Ryan Wong is set to join Biên Phòng MB for the second phase of Vietnam’s 2026 National Volleyball Championship, and he is poised to make history as the first Singaporean volleyball player to compete in Vietnam’s national league!

In The Philippines, the reigning champions are officially back to business! The Criss Cross King Crunchers kicked off their campaign with a dominant straight-sets victory over the AFP Cav Spikers: 25:15, 25:14, 25:12.
