Round 5 of 2026/27 Superlega CredemBanca has been played entirely today with six scheduled games, offering a compelling mix of high-level volleyball, dramatic finishes and important results across the standings. With the clash between Itas Trentino and Sir Susa Scai Perugia taking centre stage, Cucine Lube Civitanova, Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza, Pallavolo Padova, Tinet Prata di Pordenone and Valsa Group Modena also had reasons to celebrate.

Cucine Lube Civitanova continued its impressive run, sweeping past Allianz Milano in a dominant performance that further consolidates its position among the league’s frontrunners, 0-3 (18:25, 19:25, 14:25). Giampaolo Medei’s side has now collected five consecutive victories, reaching 15 points without dropping a single point along the way. The emphatic result, achieved in just 72 minutes, also comes at the perfect time as Civitanova prepares for the SuperLega Super Cup Final Four, set to take place in Parma on November 14–15.
Milano never managed to establish a rhythm against an opponent that dictated the pace from the service line and maintained considerable attacking pressure throughout the match.
Already dealing with the absence of Tatsunori Otsuka due to a physical issue, Guillermo Falasca’s team struggled to cope with Lube’s intensity. Despite several attempts to reshuffle the lineup, including the introduction of former Civitanova players Santiago Orduna and Davi Tenorio, the hosts found little room to turn the tide. Their only meaningful response came in the second set, when they briefly managed to close the gap.
The numbers tell much of the story: Civitanova’s 10 aces repeatedly disrupted Milano’s reception, which finished below 33% positive and around 10% perfect. With the passing line under constant pressure, Milano’s offensive options became increasingly limited, allowing Lube to read the game more effectively. On the opposite side, the visitors converted 53% of their attacks, demonstrating the efficiency and variety that made the difference between the two teams.
Middle blocker Giovanni Gargiulo was at the heart of Civitanova’s success, earning MVP honours after delivering 13 points and leading the team’s scoring. His contribution included a 61% attack efficiency, one ace and a winning block. Aleksandar Nikolov and Eric Loeppky added 11 points each, with the Canadian outside hitter making a particularly significant impact from the service line, producing five aces.
Milano’s offensive efforts were largely concentrated around Basil Dermaux, who finished as the match’s leading scorer with 15 points. However, with no other player from Falasca’s lineup able to reach double figures, the Lombardy side lacked the collective firepower needed to challenge a Civitanova team that remains firmly on course.

The headline encounter took place at the BTS Arena, where Perugia came from behind twice to defeat Trentino 2-3 (25:22, 17:25, 25:23, 16:25, 8:15). The home side made a strong opening, with Alessandro Michieletto immediately putting pressure on the visitors through his serving, helping Trentino establish an early advantage. Perugia responded in the second set with a much more aggressive performance, levelling the match in convincing fashion. The third set returned to a closely contested battle, with Michieletto once again decisive in the closing stages as Trentino regained the lead. However, the reigning champions showed their resilience in the fourth set, taking control early and forcing a tie-break. In the decisive fifth set, Perugia left little room for doubt, opening with a 3-0 lead and maintaining their dominance all the way to the finish.
Ferre Reggers was the match’s top scorer with 26 points to his name, supported by Oleh Plotnytskyi’s 22, Kamil Semeniuk’s 18 and Giovanni Sanguinetti’s 12. Plotnytskyi also made a major impact from the service line, while Perugia’s blocking superiority proved crucial. For Trentino, Michieletto led the way with 23 points, followed by Theo Faure with 16 and Daniele Lavia with 11. The victory keeps Perugia unbeaten and firmly at the top of the standings, although they have played one more match than their closest rivals.

Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza also secured a valuable three-point victory, overcoming Rana Verona 3-0 (25:22, 25:23, 26:24).
Despite the straight-set result, the match remained competitive throughout, with Verona repeatedly attempting to recover in the closing stages of each set. Piacenza proved more composed when the pressure increased, finding the decisive solutions in the key moments. Alessandro Bovolenta led the home side with 14 points, while Manuel Zlatanov contributed 11 and Cuban outside hitter José Gutierrez added 10. Verona relied primarily on Noumory Keita, who finished with 15 points, but the visitors struggled to find sufficient offensive consistency. Piacenza’s win marked their fourth consecutive league victory, strengthening their position among the leading teams.

Pallavolo Padova finally opened their account for the season with a 1-3 away win over Cisterna Volley (20:25, 20:25, 25:20, 22:25). The visitors started with confidence, taking control of the first two sets through a more consistent offensive performance. Cisterna reacted in the third, finding greater rhythm and reducing the deficit, but Padova regained their composure in the fourth. The final set was closely contested, with the home side attempting to force a tie-break before Padova found the decisive points to close out the match. Amir Mohamad Golzadeh was the leading scorer with 21 points, while Leonardo Leodolter added 16. For Cisterna, Tommaso Barotto finished with 14 points, followed by Noa Duflos-Rossi with 13 and Filippo Lanza with 11. The result was particularly important for Padova, who had remained without a victory in their opening league matches.

Tinet Prata di Pordenone produced one of the most convincing performances of the round, defeating Acqua Sant’Anna Cuneo 3-0 (25:16, 28:26, 25:19). After a dominant opening set, Prata faced their toughest challenge in the second, where Cuneo came close to forcing a different outcome. The hosts nevertheless prevailed in the extended finale before controlling the third set to complete the victory. Kirill Klets was outstanding, finishing as the joint top scorer of the round with 26 points. Lukas Bergmann added 13, while Cuneo’s Hossein Khanzadeh led his team with 14 points. The result gave Prata an important boost in a competitive middle-to-lower section of the standings.

The evening concluded with Valsa Group Modena’s 3-0 away victory over Vero Volley Monza (25:21, 25:14, 25:22). Monza initially remained competitive, but Modena took control of the first set in the closing stages and then dominated the second, exploiting the home side’s difficulties in attack. The hosts attempted to respond in the third, staying close for much of the set, yet Modena once again proved more effective when it mattered most. Luca Porro led the visitors with 12 points, followed by Nik Mujanović with 11 and Thomas Jaeschke with nine. Monza’s best scorer was Diego Frascio, who finished with eight points. The victory lifted Modena to six points, while Monza remained at the bottom of the table with two.

With Perugia still unbeaten, Civitanova close behind and Piacenza continuing their winning run, the race at the top of the SuperLega is beginning to take shape. At the other end, Padova’s first victory and the struggles of Monza, Cuneo and Cisterna underline how important every point is becoming this early in the season.
