European Silver League: despite a defeat in second leg, 2025 title to Sweden!

2 min read

Thanks to the four sets win in Hungary in first leg on Thursday, Sweden earned 2025 European Silver League trophy despite a thrilling 2-3 (25:17, 20:25, 27:29, 25:16, 15:17) home defeat.
The match kicked off with Sweden asserting their dominance, easily taking the first set 25–17 without major problems, making the difference above all in blocking, scoring five points from this element only in first set (11 at the end of the match, like their rivals).
However, Hungary responded bouncing back to win the second and third sets consecutively, to become the first team to take two sets in a row against Sweden in this edition of the competition.
Despite the momentum, Sweden found their rhythm again in the fourth set, sealing the title despite losing fifth set 15-17.
With this result, Sweden not only takes home the trophy but also secures qualification for the 2026 CEV Golden League.
Viktor Lindberg was named MVP of the match after delivering a great performance with 17 points through 45% in attack, while Jacob Link also contributed with 20 through 65% in attack and 3 blocks.
Kristóf Horváth was the nota prolific player of the match scoring 24 points for Hungary.
Congratulations to Sweden, Champions of the 2025 CEV European Silver League Men!
