Both teams, both already qualified, played more or less with their subs, resting their holding players ahead of Saturday’s semifinals. Brazil destroyed USA 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-19), so finish on the top of their pool in Round 3 of World Championship. The result only served to determine who finished first and who second. This was USA’s first defeat in the competition, after a run of nine straight victories.
Brazil will meet the second-placed team from the Pool I, while the USA will play against the first placed side. Evandro Guerra had a good performance, finishing the match as top scorer, with 19 points.
