Champions League: Great matches at the start of the new season, Skra, Zenit SP, Halkbank and Tours victorious. All easy for Zenit and Zaksa.

The men’s volleyball CEV Champions League has officially started!
Halkbank and Roeselare have opened the new season, with a great high-level volleyball show. The Turkish team was in a difficult situation but managed somehow to force the tie-break and to win the match. Drazen Luburic with 18 points and Burutay Subasi with 16 points were the top scorers in the winning team, while on the other side Hendrick Tuerlinckx scored 20 points.
Also Zenit SP have made a debut in the CEV Champions League, playing a difficult match against the French team Chaumont. The German opposite Gyorgy Grozer was the author of a really great performance, scoring 27 points. This was enough to let his team to score the first victory in Champions League!
In the French team, Wassim Ben Tara has scored 24 points.
Yesterday we also saw a battle between two Polish teams: PGE Skra Belchatow hosted Trefl Gdansk and the home team took the win in four sets, even if it was a very hard match. Mariusz Wlazly was the best scorer with 20 points, while Karol Klos and Artur Szalpuk had 15 points each. In Trefl Gdansk, Maciej Muzaj ended as top scorer of the match with 22 points.
Today, Zenit and Zaksa destroyed the rivals, while Tours conquered Izmir in three sets!
The defending champions of Zenit Kazan have opened the 2018/2019 champions league with a 3-0 victory over United Volleys Berlin. Zenit Kazan had an easy match against the Germans, beating them in straight sets 25-18, 25-17, 25-13. Turnover for Alekno’s team: a demonstration that Zenit is a really strong team. Sergey Surmachevskiy was the best scorer in Zenit with 12 points, Mikhailov played in the first two sets and scored 8 points, while Matt Anderson in the first and scored 5 points.
Tours have made a big win at this start of the group stage. They defeated turkish of Arkasspor, thanks to a great display of Hermans Egleskalns, who ended the match with 20 points.
Also Zaksa had an easy match. They won against the Czech rival Karlovarsko in straight sets 25-16, 25-16, 25-17. Sam Deroo and Lukasz Kaczmarek were the top scorers with 16 points each. On the other side, Marek Zmrhal was the only player with a double-digit display with 10 points.
