Superlega: Summary of Round 14

No holiday in Italy: yesterday has been played all the matches of Superlega’s round 14, the first matches of second-leg.
New victories for Perugia, Civitanova, Trento & Modena respectively against Latina, Padova, Siena and Sora. Great win also for Verona, which destroyed Monza in straight sets, while Vibo Valentia and Milano needed 5 sets to win against Castellana Grotte and Ravenna.
So, in the advance, played two hours before the other matches, Verona won, playing a great game, in straight sets against Monza.
The reigning champions of Perugia have ended the 14th round of italian Superlega with a 3-0 victory without difficults over Latina 25:17, 25:19, 25:20.
Aleksandar Atanasijevic was the leader of his team with 19 points, while Wilfredo Leon contributed with 15 points.
Lube Civitanova also scored a victory against Padova with the same result: Yoandy Leal was the top scorer of the match with 15 points.
Trento continued its winning streak, improving it to 17-0 counting all competitions. After the first set won by Siena, zero difficults for the guests. Aaron Russell with 16 points and Uros Kovacevic with 15 points were the top scorers in Trentino, and Luca Vettori and Srecko Lisinac had 14 points each.
Instead Modena had a lot of difficulties against Sora away, but in the end, they managed to win the match at tie-break with following results: 30:28, 25:19, 23:25, 24:26, 15:11). Ivan Zaytsev has missed this match due a ball in one eye in the last match…or probably only for him was Christmas? Bartosz Bednorz scored 24 points, while Tine Urnaut 19 points. In Sora, which played really an incredibile match, Dusan Petkovic again had another great game, finishing the battle with 32 points, while Rafael Ferreira added 29 points.
Another great match also for Mohamed Al Hachadi, who led Vibo Valentia with 28 points to the victory away over Castellana Grotte.
Also Milano needed five sets to win against Ravenna, led by Rychkicki, author of 24 points. He was not enough, and the home team can celebrate, with Abdelaziz and Clevenot, who realized respectively 21 and 17 points.
