#Superlega: Monza surprise Modena, great matches for Padova and Sora – Recap of Round 23
4 min read
Modena-Monza clash was in the spotlight in the 23rd round of the Italian Superlega!
Perugia, Civitanova and Trentino have scored the victories respectively against Ravenna, Latina and Milano. Padova destroyed Verona at the home court, while Sora away won in four sets against Vibo Valentia.
In details, Modena suffered another defeat in Superlega, which may now push them out of the fourth place if they continue losing games (they lost three out of four last matches).
Paul Buchegger was the best scorer of the match with 20 points, while Tine Urnaut had 19 for Modena. Obviously, Modena needs the reinforcement as soon as possible and he is arriving on Wednesday. It’s the French international, Kevin Tillie.
Nothing has changed in the standings because Milano, the direct rival for the fourth place, lost against Trento in four sets (photogallery of the match avaible), while they did not have problems Lube Civitanova and Perugia: both won in straight sets and Latina and Ravenna could not do anything to try to take at least one point to the top Italian teams.
Problems instead for Verona that suffers the second consecutive defeat in straight sets, this time against Padova, which really played a perfect match led by Torres, deservedly mvp of the match and author of 17 points.
Closes the picture the great victory of Sora, in four sets on the Vibo Valentia’s court in one of the direct clashes for salvation. De Barros Ferreira with 19 points was one of the protagonists of this victory, and MVP of the match, although once again Petkovic was the absolute best scorer of the game winning a set by himself: 25 points scored!
